Further FYI - try searching on YouTube for “Hezbollah’s Hostages - The story of a silenced people” and nada. Google instead returns numerous stories regarding people killed by Israel in Gaza and Lebanon.

Yuisuf didn't even want her for himself. He had her husband kidnapped, possibly murdered, possibly forced to join a militia somewhere, so he could get to her. He broke her in for her future usefulness in the sex trade, and then passed her on. Allah is not only a bloody god, awash in human sacrifice, but also a sex demon, with no shame or mercy.

There are no justifications that can justify such inhumane, illegal, and just plain evil wrong behavior. Any "fatwa" that seeks to make such disgusting behavior "legal" is an insult to religion, any religion. Period, end of discussion, stop. No debate. I hope there is a special place in Hell for everyone of those "pious" people involved.

While it’s true that criticism of Israel isn’t in and of itself, anti-Semitic, the criticism of Israel I hear these days almost always reeks of hypocritical Jew hate.

Iran and it odious proxies are so clearly cruel, evil and hellbent on Israel’s destruction that it’s impossible to see it any other way.

What about the plight and ongoing suffering of innocent Gazans or Lebanese civilians, you ask? Simple, Israel’s enemies are to blame.

Iran will, it is said, fight Israel to the last Arab. Hamas and Hezbollah have for decades, lashed out at Israelis from behind Arab human shields. Israel’s Western critics, useful idiots all, would prefer to see Israel accept this state of war in perpetuity.

Well the Israelis prefer not to accept this insidious state of affairs. Wars have innocent victims. And every innocent victim in this war can be blamed squarely on Iran, Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad and the Mullahs in Iran.

It’s not Israel’s fault if Jew hating lefties refuse to understand that.

I used to be very progressive, but the past few years have started to change that, or at least I haven't evolved with the next level/gen of progressivism. This support/celebrating of Hamas & excuses and praise of sorts for Hezbollah with nothing but contempt for Israel? I mean really there were progressives who legitimately celebrated the Oct 7th attacks. Then you got the whole encouraging children with still developing brains to change their gender/sex with pills and surgeries. Just as crazy Newsom making it illegal or whatever to tell the parents of school children if the child wants to change their pronouns? They excuse crime based on the color of someone's skin as if the circumstances of their lives made it impossible for them to behave civilly. We have progressive DA's who hardly even give a slap on the wrist to violent repeat offenders who then go and repeatedly offend. I feel like I am sitting here waiting for everyone to come to their senses and it isn't happening!

And I really think, and I know many of you aren't gonna like this or necessarily understand what I am getting at, but I think part of this occurred with Trump. Whether because of his actions or not, the huge divide in the country started in 2016. As a result, the left-wing movement has gone extra extra left, so they are not even remotely seen to agree with the slightest bit of Trump (even though ironically, he did some things that the original progressives were in favor of like renegotiate NAFTA). But anyway, I think that all of this craziness is a result of the extreme divide and anti-Trump/MAGA movement. I hope when Trump is finally done that everyone comes to their senses.

Sorry, Christiano. Trump did not create the divide. He is a product of it. My politics have not changed over the years. I was against socialism in 1970 and I'm against socialism today. I stood for objective ideals in 1970, and still do today. I don't care a fig for emotional responses. Didn't then, don't now.

It's the other side which has gone bonkers. It's the other side which has resorted to lawfare, particularly in NYC, with no thought to the consequences of the precedents they have established. It's the other side which staged an FBI raid at a former's president's home, using the excuse of a complaint by the National Archivist, when there has always been tensions between former presidents & the National Archives (notice Biden's cartons of papers in his garage). It's the other side which authorized FBI agents to open fire on the Secret Service if Trump should have returned unexpectedly to Mar-a-Lago during the raid. Do you understand how corrupt that is? It is the other side which has just released a letter from a would-be Trump assassin admitting his attempt to kill Trump, and offering a. $150,000 bounty for anyone who succeeds. The US Department of Justice released that letter without bothering to redact the offer of a bounty on Trump's head. The US Department of Justice.

Clearly, the DC Swamp is full of nasty creatures. But they couldn't be successful without the silent consent of so many Americans. Trump does ruffle feathers. I don't give a darn, myself. But too many think a lack of comportment excuses corrupting the law and, apparently, even murder.

This is not going away.

You know what that is actually pretty well put Jan. I will tell you that I am a Democrat, but there is no doubt that Democrat establishment has weaponized the justice dept. and found other illegitimate excuses to go after Trump. I mean the whole "hush money" case was a complete and utter joke. I assumed it was a legit case and then as it went along I was like what? that is it? It was a waste of time and weak and I can't believe the jury actually convicted because it was soooo weak.

Expand full comment

Thank you. I'm glad we can agree on something. Doesn't have to be everything, it never will be everything, but just building one bridge between the divides is a hopeful sign. Agreement is not the point, as much as mutual respect is. Take care.

Part of the misjudgement of secular Liberals is the belief that people behave according to economic models. If they commit crimes or are violent, there must be a rational explanation for it. Multiculturalism is a justifiable response to historical White Supremecy, but it also creates naivete regarding the intentions of foreign and domestic actors.

Progressives exploit the weaknesses of Liberal thinking to push authoritarian agendas and dreams of a Marxist Utopia. Why does progress require a guillotine?

Expand full comment

That is actually very astute. I personally know many who think exactly as you just described. I was once the same! However, after living in a major city of the country the past 8 years I have come to the realization that people area responsible for themselves. A famous line from a children's cartoon can't say it any better. “I see now that the circumstances of one's birth are irrelevant. It is what you do with the gift of life that determines who you are.”

If you were abandoned in a the forest as a baby and coyotes ate you would that be you're fault? One's life circumstances at birth very much do matter. Being sensitive to this doesn't mean that we have to give people a free pass or be unrealistic about how dangerous they are.

Thank you for your thoughtful comments. A few things: I think thing started going awry before Trump, starting with Bush 2, and getting worse under Obama (I voted for him twice but really disliked his divisive, condescending attitude, "clinging to guns and religion, and all that". I don't think Trump "caused" it intentionally, but I think his behavior gave his opponents permission and cover to unmask themselves. His opponents didn't change, they just stopped pretending. Furthermore, when Trump won, his opponents believed that they could no longer trust the electorate, and we had to be lied to and manipulated to be sure we could never make a mistake like that again, and we had to use the courts to seal the deal. Finally, I think both sides use their rhetoric to divide us. They use the bare minimum of fact (if any at all) to rally us to their cause. Abortion is a perfect example. Most Americans have a nuanced and humane approach to abortion, but you wouldn't know it by the people yelling "baby killer" or "woman killer" at each other. Remember, THE PEOPLE were legalizing abortion BEFORE Roe because they were repulsed by women dying due to illegal abortions. What I want to know, and can't seem to find out is, are the women dying because the abortion LAW is wrong, or because doctors are afraid and NOT adhering to the standard of care, AND just how much abortion is taking place in the last trimester and for what reason. Do we really have many or any abortions at that stage that are elective? Or are these due to fetal viability, or saving the life of the mother? At some point, we must acknowledge that each person is in charge of his/her soul.

Great comment.....thank you for saving me the energy of making my own very similar one. I've noticed this trend among commenters to support Harris-Walz because they're exhausted by the chaos and rancor caused by Trump's candidacies. Trump is fighting the tyranny of the leftist bureaucratic (deep) state, beholden only to their corporate donors. It's a fight worth fighting, which is why I'll for for a candidate (Trump) I struggle to like or even listen to speak.

Great points - the abortion debate centers so much around "late term abortions" and yet neither side ever shows us the statistics to back their claims that they are/aren't happening and for what reason. To me, the Dems could slam dunk that debate if they simply showed they happened to save the lives of mothers.

The term "progressive" is very misleading. Much of what is proposed by the alt Left is truly regressive.

If you blame someone else for your actions or attitude, you have no self control nor ability to think on your own. To use such an excuse is nothing more than giving a quick and illogical answer to something that requires deeper thought and discernment.

I agree, Dan, although I would put it differentlly. Believing in one's own victimhood weakens your ability to deal with the situation. Oh, poor me, is not a posture that propels one forward. Doesn't really matter how legitimate one's complaints are. Actually, legitimacy makes them more powerful, which is a bad thing. You can look back later, once the years have passed, and maybe you'll even have good advice to share. But when you're young, and need to make a life for yourself, you have to focus forward. And that sometimes means wearing blinders to your own past.

The problem is that the left defies the Constitution. They have decided that to suppress Trump's viewpoint, any abuse of the law or political office is justified. It is not. The turning point was Trump's 34 felony convictions in New York. 34 felonies for ostensibly falsifying a business record to cover up a crime in order to influence an election. The business record in question was calling a check in response to his attorney's invoice 'legal fees'. The crime? We have no idea. The prosecution refused to name the crime, and the corrupt, partisan judge allowed that. Trump hasn't been convicted of any other crime, so nobody knows. That includes the jury. They were corruptly instructed that they did not have to be unanimous on this particular material fact in order to convict Trump, though the Supreme Court has repeatedly held that in the United States, juries must always unanimously agree on material facts. As a result, the jury polled after the 'conviction' revealed a 3-way split on what they thought the mythical crime might be. Of course, observers know the vitriol over the Stormy Daniels NDA and her appearance in court suggests that was what the prosecution was implying. They're implying it because it would be a violation of federal campaign finance law if it were a crime and by statute only the FEC and DOJ can prosecute it. Both reviewed the facts and declined to charge Trump because giving people money isn't illegal and signing non-disclosure agreements isn't illegal and she signed a sworn statement saying the event in question never happened. In New York though, he has been de facto denied his due process rights on whatever the charge is as he's being punished for it under cover of this charge without ever being presented with the evidence against him or being able to face his accusers as guaranteed by the Constitution. Democrats don't realize how shocking this was to the moderates and independents in this country because they're so inured in their corruption that they don't bother hiding it anymore. It has prompted a great many people who never considered voting for Trump to change their minds, commit to vote for him and even donate to him as their first ever political donation. They're doing it partly because of the blatant corruption and injustice but also because it has prompted them to research some of the other claims Democrats have made about Trump and, surprise, surprise, they found the Democrats were lying about those too. Aside from the fact that the country did well under Trump, people need to vote for him to end that corruption. Democrats have to be punished for what they've done. Some of them, criminally, or there will never be honest government in the US again. It simply can't be tolerated. Ever. For any reason. The Constitution is the supreme law of the land. The manners for changing it if desired are laid out plainly in its text. Until it has been changed however, it is the law and any deceit to get around its limitations is corruption.

The recent polls suggest that "a great many people who never considered voting for Trump," are STILL not planning to vote for him. So this does not seem to be a big issue for many people.

Expand full comment

Which is why in the elections against Hillary and Biden, Trump outperformed the polls by 6% to 9%. Whether that's because the news media put their thumb on the scale for their own partisan leanings, or because campaigns don't buy TV ads when races aren't close or even because some Trump voters lie about their support to avoid being molested by liberal zealots, it is real and measurable. If he is going to outperform the polls by this margin against Kamala (seems likely), then this is not a close race at all.

Trump is not the cause he’s the symptom. Just like Brexit. This has been brewing for a while. The roaches have been festering behind a pristine wall for years. Just because you didn’t see them doesn’t me they didn’t exist. Just like antisemitism and racism.

I graduated from sociology in the mid 90s and could see that the welfare system was just modern day slavery. Trump hasn’t been acting President for 4 years and this whole ideology has worsened. Not just in the U.S. but in the west and developing countries as well. Trump is easy to blame but he can’t be blamed for what’s happening in the UK or Europe or South America.

I won't happen, if and when Trump is done, this will continue . Look what they are doing to Vance these days as a model of what is to come. This is the new political model for the Dems and partner the MSM , it is what it is and will be . What has changed isn't so much Trump or republicans but how the MSM has changed to be a partner with Dems. Since 2016 it has gotten much worse and now we have almost 10 years of this system being in place nothing will change once Trump is gone because of the MSM . The only way this will be fixed is if the MSM goes out of business but sadly that is not going to happen because they are so good at there propaganda which will continue and the poor people on the edge keep believing it ! The MSM has deep pockets behind them and they will not stop sending the hate, the false claims of he is / he said / he did . Welcome to the new America or should I say USSR / America .

Vance is kind of in that MAGA vein though. Had someone like Nikki Haley been the nominee I wonder how the MSM would've reacted.

Nikki was just an anti Trump Dem money catcher , if she were to actual run and there was no Trump the real knives of the MSM would have been out . Lets face it it not MAGA that is the problem it Republican that is the problem , this is what the Dem voting population today is missing . It's funny how confused they are about this , but anyone that understands how the Dems partner with MSM knows this to be true. The MSM is now the election machine of Dems and that is not going to change with MAGA gone , and that is the real truth !

If Haley is nothing but an anti-Trump Dem money catcher, then who from the Republican side isn't that isn't "MAGA"?

This has never been about just MAGA , it's been about winning elections and propaganda for thus cause . Don't be silly thinking MAGA is the problem . As long as Dems push there far left policies and republicans push back this divide will grow wider and worse and it will because of what Dems want . These issues of BIG gov , lower taxes , pro business and now things like pro working class are not going away and if anything will get worse and thus nothing is going to change . Most people against this were not MAGA sorry to say , the label is yet another propaganda piece that MSM invented . So lets not pretend that anything will change when and if Trump is gone.
