Our government takes people who criticize the Iran War into custody and ships them out of the country.
I’m in favor of this policy since these are people who shouldn’t have been allowed in my country in the first place, but you don’t really get to be outraged about this on moral grounds.
Arday suffered from a myriad of comorbid mental health issues, (PS autism is not a mental health disorder, it is merely a different operating system) none of which the powers that be sought to help him with because his existence fit into a narrative that made them all feel good about themselves. Instead they pushed his delusions and ignored his academic inadequacies. This story is tragic on so many levels, not the least is that those who rose Arday up quickly abandoned him to the mob in order to save themselves. They should not be allowed to get away with that. Everyone responsible for this societal failure needs to be held accountable.

Douglas has taken the time and trouble to read the late Jason Arday’s autobiography. His article is of course well-written but also compassionate and acutely aware how DEI did this poor chap no favours by ennobling and fawning over someone of very flawed character who ended up trapped in his own narrative. When the cracks began to show in that narrative, what happened was tragic.
