Sounds like an interesting movie. Regarding the last line—“Lean times force you to get real about priorities—what, and who, you are willing to sacrifice”—I would like to call attention to the fact that Biden’s administration appealed all the way to the Supreme Court, after losing in two lower courts, for the right to pressure internet companies to censor private citizens who disagreed with its policies. A lot of these banned voices were doctors and scientists who challenged covid “science” or policies. (Much of what they were saying turned out to be true.) While we constantly hear about Trump as a threat to democracy, the Biden administration aggressively fought for the right to silence American citizens. The press and Democrats have apparently already forgotten this shameful episode. If we never process these situations, we risk repeating them.

Thank you for an analysis, allowing us to judge for ourselves whether we would like to watch Coup or not. Sounds like fun.

I am tired of critics telling me what I would like and not like, telling me what I should think. This begins in grade school and by college is refined by the self anointed professoriate/media into a fine art. Enough already.

I read the Decameron about ten years ago. Brilliant book. I hope they haven’t just stolen the title and the concept and left the stories in tact.

I appreciate this review. Nice to have something come across my plate that I might not normally hear about, particularly since all my old sources of cultural info have become worthless post-2016.

One quibble with the last part though — for many still wandering around masked and confused here in NYC, the pandemic will never be over. Poor souls.

And just when I was celebrating Suzy becoming Suzy again, here comes another worthless TFP filler.

Why do you guys want so much to become a piece of trash like the New York times? Who cares about that movie? Is it selling out theaters? Then what? Somebody paid you for an advertorial?

A lot of small businesses die because they try "diversifying", and then they lose focus, and by the time they notice it's too late. Focus on what your subscribers want to read about, not what you want to write about. We honestly don't care about the latter.

No more movie reviews! Movie reviews killed the New York Times! Movie reviews killed my father!

As with the brief banter about golf skills (wish they hadn't stopped it) during the historic presidential debate, I appreciate an occasional diversion from the serious and bad stuff. I will see this movie now, having read this.

I actually care. I wouldn’t have even been aware of this film if not for this article. I’m now intrigued.

From the description, it's a social satire, a genre which I really miss. The flap over JD Vance's 'cat ladies' remark shows that the left has totally lost the sense of humor it once had. Let's fight back by keeping ours.
