I was disappointed that comments were turned off for David Mamet’s encomium for Tom Stoppard. But after reading some of the earlier comments can understand why.
What I had wanted to note was Stoppard's brilliant observation: “it’s not voting that makes democracy. It’s the counting.”
I (not a Jew) suspect they have ample reasons to worry, nicht wahr, eh? To me they represent the terrain avoidance system (TAWS) of life, the one that alerts pilots to potential dangers from terrain with aural warnings, such as "TOO LOW - WHOOP WHOOP PULL UP"

It's nice to see that Nellie has acquired the fine Jewish art of worrying. My wife, a Jew, is a worrier, as are many of the Jewish women I've met.
