Peter Savodnik, Suzy Weiss, Freya Sanders, and Elliot Ackerman on the WHCD incident. Plus: Abigail Shrier on what a ‘real man’ is. Kara Kennedy’s case for letting teens smoke. And more.
"Our reporting and opinion can be harshly critical of our country and its leaders, but that is because we believe deeply in America and its promise. We make no apology for making distinctions between good and bad, liberalism and illiberalism, the rule of the law and mob rule, freedom and unfreedom—and we advocate forcefully for the former."
Brave words. But, when will reporting and opinion be just as harshly critical of a press corps that has arrogated to itself the role of moral arbiter — deciding what is good or bad, when the rule of law can be ignored and mobs can rule, when illiberalism is framed as liberalism. We look forward to a forcefull advocacy for that.
We are witnessing how fundamental transformation works. Pay attention to deeds not words. The deed at the Correspondents dinner was not an outlier but is part of a pattern whose fuse was lit when identity politics became the ORDER of the day, an order that has been loyally followed by those who felt that America must be transformed.
Imagine telling your spouse: honey I love you but you need to be fundamentally transformed.
July 4 is a little over two months away. Will this past weekend be a soothing tonic giving way to celebration or just another step towards full out hate America as we ha e witnessed for over a decade ( and growing based on polling that is still ignored or rationalized by oh so many).
The same principles that keep political ideology out of classrooms
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I must be hallucinating all those LGBTQ 🏳️🌈 flags I’ve seen in classrooms! Or the nearby HS with 40’X40’ “Hate Has No Home Here” banners hanging on the exterior walls, and same size with the banal “we believe….”, the Nicene Creed of the putty minds…
I left the Democratic Party in 2020 because I couldn’t take it anymore. I am not sure what triggered my disgust, but all I know is that I could not go along with what the party had become and what I could see playing out every day on social media. I watched everyone I knew, every prominent person of power, justify their dehumanizing rhetoric, all aimed at one man and his supporters.

Now, we’re at the point on the Left where all the words — the extreme hyperbole—have been used up, and nothing has changed. There was ever only one place left to go, and that was to take up arms and start shooting people.

Cole Allen, who is Trump’s third would-be assassin, like Luigi Mangione and Tyler Robinson, is not a madman, not like the shooter who murdered Melissa Hortman. He wasn’t hearing voices. He wasn’t suffering from PTSD. He made a sober and calculating decision to do what so many have been begging “someone” to do ever since Trump won.

To steal a quote “Theres nothing worse than a reformed sinner.” Sasha has walked the liberal road, supported it and promoted it. She experienced a road to Damascus moment and is now on a mission. Her work is worth following.
I hate how this always devolves into an endless “which side condones political violence” back and forth. I suspect it’s a very specific profile of person.
I built an app to visualize cross-community cross-tabs on questions like "Is political violence sometimes acceptable?". Dedicated page for The Free Press fam here: https://votto.app/freepress
Check it out if you hate having to discuss these things but find it interesting to explore how opinions on a variety of topics diverge and coalesce along different lines.
So because gas is a little more expensive, polls say that the majority of Americans are going to vote into Congress those who think Hamas, hezbollah, and the mullahs are the good guys...either polls are very wrong or the average American is an entitled imbecile.
I am pleased you mention the Mali situation. The Russians are pulling out (the Wagner Group basically had forced the French to leave). The West Africa Corps is the renamed Wagner Group. They basically can't defend their allies (something they have shown recently in Syria as well)
" NBC News reported Saturday. Briefings for lawmakers on the full costs of the war have been scant. “No one knows anything,” one congressional aide said. “And it’s not for lack of asking.”"
1. Its 1944, the very same thing could have been said.
we passed a dozen or so chanting protesters,
Ummmm….my understanding is these “chanting protesters” were “chanting” things like “Death to Trump” etc.
I’m a Free Speech absolutist, but how is this not a death threat; to a public official?
There was a flaw obviously at the event.
Whether the senate and house gets flipped is of no importance as the whole of Congress is y useless.
The Iranians need to not have a nuclear weapon. Full stop.

This is good and all, but yet again we see The Free Press downplaying the *clear* Leftwing Political Violence trend and trying to all-sides it
I can get that in Legacy media. Why don’t you talk to Batya

Iran has caused an estimated $5 billion in damage to U.S. military bases across the Gulf region
Or, put another way, 3 days of total Somali Medicaid fraud….

LMFAO
Spot on.
You beat me to it…
Can we talk about how Obama claimed we didn’t know the wanabe assassin’s motives?
Don’t you mean instance, not incidence?
There is No Saving the Left
There is only saving the country from them.

You could say most of us are reformed (Democrats) sinners.
Was Hitler at the Hilton hotel? Just trying to help get the facts straight before Colbert or Kimmel go on TV tonight
Two interesting articles about men in this edition.
Yea, we’re still around despite the Lefts attempt to shame us into hiding.

The worry is another migrant surge towards Europe. Zineb Riboua who is a FP contributor has written an excellent substack on this and why it is important: https://www.zinebriboua.com/p/mali-is-russias-new-afghanistan-and
