About 335,000 federal workers left the government last year, but evidently about 100,000 were replaced, so the net reduction in government workers was a little over 200,000. A good start.
"....the most contentious fight in the country right now: a battle over immigration, law enforcement, and deportations being fought on the streets of Minneapolis."
The most contentious fight in the country right now appears to be over illegal immigration. Ice is rounding up criminal illegal aliens and those associated with them, not immigrants. It appears that the lines between legal and illegal immigration have become blurred. If we are a "nation of laws" and "no one is above the law", as one political party has reminded us many times, then shouldn't those found to be here illegally (and especially those with criminal records) be returned to their country of origin?
I just watched a TFP video from early December that came across my IG feed today. It told the story of a Chicago female Trump voter, who is now actively helping the newly arrived immigrants. In reading the comments, many people are appalled and disgusted at the ICE policy of arresting immigrants who show up to their visa appointments. They think it’s picking low fruit to hit their detainment quotas. A story on this would be enlightening. Did Biden lower the bar to qualify? Did Trump return them to previous standards or tighten them more? Many ICE opponents are arguing that these immigrants are not getting due process. Did the system change under Biden and has it been restored or tightened even more? It seems that a clear article that lays out these two sides would be clarifying. Right now we have Americans fighting over the millions of people who flooded over the border during Biden’s term and I’m not sure any of us are clear about who has been changing the rules and what the rules actually are/were.
I understand that the US has federal, state and local authorities, but as an (legal) immigrant I don’t get it how it’s possible for a city to have an immigration policy that goes against federal laws. If a certain part of the US population want to abolish citizenship and have open borders, they should try to have this voted, not just decide to ignore existing laws and even actively work against those enforcing the laws. But this is the current trend in the US: “I will respect whatever law I like and not respect the laws I don’t like”. In fact, the Luigi Mangione incident and the resulting fan club has shown that many in the US want to choose which murders they like and which they don’t and punish only the latter. This is how a country ceases to exist as such.
It is called selective application of the law, and it is the specialty of collectivist, authoritative systems that are designed to only enforce those laws that meet the narrative the authoritarians are promoting (e.g. not enforcing or allowing federal immigration laws to be enforced). In the case of illegal immigration, it appears to be about changing the electoral rolls.
Concerning Elliot Abrams, I question how seriously we should take a senior advisor to the administration that plunged us into two wars of choice that dragged on for decades and got over 10,000 young Americans killed for no good reason.
Blah blah ICE blah blah. Trump won on the promise to rid the country of millions of illegals brought in by Biden. He is doing his job. DHS says 622,000 have been deported since January 2025, and another 1.9 million have self-deported. Thousands of hard core criminals and gang members have been picked up or are being actively pursued.
The left wing billionaires like Soros who are funding anti-ICE violence need to be held to accounts, as do the civil authorities who are preventing the local police from keeping the peace.
The real news is the revolution happening right now in Iran, something which apparently the entire Democrat Party and its supporters would prefer to ignore, because Trump and Israel have played such a large role in emboldening the rebels.
In Tehran more IRGC leaders are being taken out by somebody with the skills to do it. These leaders are the replacements for the previous leaders Mossad took out last year. Also demonstrators are marking the doors of houses occupied by security officials so those people can be killed too. Very effective. What ever Trump might be able to do to help should be done without talking about it.
Almost every video I see of a vehicle blocking ICE is driven by a white woman who appears to be angry and nearby commentators claim to be “doing what we were trained to do”. Blowing whistles, honking horns, taking cell phone videos and using vehicles to impede ICE I supposed to give illegals time to get away. The question is not if the shooting was legal, justified or not but rather who brainwashes and empowers a 5’2” 150 lb woman to think she can take down a 6’3” 250 lb man laced with multiple weapons. ie: “you want to come at me?, better get some lunch big boy”. And politicians are urging them all to “get back out there”. The trainers, enablers and anti-ICE politicians stoking the flames are the ones who should be deported first.
Bob Weir passing is just one more reminder...we are all 'Dust in the Wind'. Thanks to XM radio I can listen to some Grateful Dead most any time. "A box of rain" has always been a favorite.
Too many American states are proving to be failed states and I'm sure that being run by Democrats for too long is just coincidence. These 'activists' in America's streets are Democrat party operatives who do what they do for pay. It keeps most elected Democrats in Congress in a hands off, who are those people safe spot. The loss of the 2024 election has forced the party to devolve into its most basic character-that of insurrectionist. What we are seeing is the operating methods of the Dem party Riot Industrial Complex which is funded by wealthy NGOs, lawyer groups and even foreign supporters. All for the benefit of the 'Democratic' party and its desperate attempt to hold power while out of power. Democrats at war with the Federal Government. I thought that was settled in 1865? From somewhere, Jefferson Davis and George Wallace must be looking at todays Dems and wondering what went wrong.
Unfortunately your stories about Minneapolis feed right into the narrative the radicals want. Debating whether this poor ICE agent was justified in shooting a woman who was mowing him down, and not a word about the big picture: the Radical violence against law enforcement doing its job, with political leaders cheering them on. Radical violence has been normalized and is therefore become a non story. You need to report about Dem leaders’ completely justifying their followers’ violence and resistance against law enforcement by lying that ICE is kidnapping people, arresting American citizens; and calling ICE the Gestapo. This is a seismic shift in our democracy: a major political party which is advocating violence and resistance against the lawful conduct of law enforcement. It is alarming, and alarming that you and the rest of the media are not alarmed.
Ah, the old bait and switch from the Dems -- don't look here, look here. Don't contemplate why half of nine billion federal dollars went to Somalia, support the idiot leaders who allowed this travesty. The Summer of Love over the misrepresented drug death of Floyd worked. Why not rip the country apart again because Dems say so? Consider the rotting source.
Calling the event on January 6, 2021 an insurrection is sloppy journalism. No one was ever charged with that crime.
I take the FP not for the articles, so often poorly written and biased, but for the wonderful comments which give actual legal information. Thank you.

That’s a great idea for a story.
Responsible journalism would call for responding to this entirely reasonable suggestion.
I am looking forward to the Free Press honchos' responses. ASAP.

RIP bob Weir. Walk in the Sunshine. (I’m a millennial btw)

Menopause is an emboldening affair and sometimes ends in divorce -- or worse.

Youngsters (AOC) and Oldsters (Pelosi) forget we lived through this once -- the Vietnam protests -- and with better music.
