You should have an article on the murder of Henry Nowak.

Twice as long compared to what?:" keep [pancreatic cancer] patients alive for twice as long as otherwise." Maybe the paywalled article clears it up, but "twice as long" is meaningless. Two weeks vs one? Two months vs one? And so on. Not to mention any question about the treatment side effects on the quality of life . . . especially in the extra time, however long that may be. Americans are not only financially illiterate, they are very nearly completely innumerate.

"A new study from investment company TIAA and Stanford University shows that Americans’ financial literacy has fallen to a 10-year low."

We can thank the public schools and the teacher's unions.

How many students graduate being unable to read, write or compute adequately to function in an advanced society?

I'm sure those poor kids are experts in gender theory though...

"But the introduction of a $640,000 electric Ferrari last week caught our attention. Why? Because it was very ugly—and universally panned."

I don't think that Ferrari is ugly at all, but I do think it should be panned because IMHO, no car is worth that much money.

"...James Talarico, gearing up for the competition. The photo—which featured Talarico in a Texas flag shirt eating some local barbecue—triggered instant, very personal attacks from Republicans."

And rightfully so. Apparently , "Low T" Talarico has no real convictions of his own.

The British museum is a disgrace to the history and institution I thought museum were for.

They like so many others in Britain and Europe and the Middle East would want the elimination of any Jewish historical and biblical ancestry to the land that is theirs.

What a shame the world is so evil.

Clarity Seeker's avatar

Not sure how the UK works but I view the British Museum as i do American museums and various other NGOs: taxpayer funded ( directly or through tax exemptions etc) and run by leftist ideologues many of whom get cushy high paying jobs and seek to control culture. They virtue signaling but never sacrifice anything life style wise. The term AWFL fits many to a Tee

I was born long before we owned a color television but am still susceptible to falling for the constant media propaganda on matters like the Iran war. Hoe can one know what is really going on when the "FACTS " change every few hours

Is Trump playing Iran or vice versa? Is the white leaking false info to make it appear trump and Netanyahu are about to go separate ways? Maybe so , maybe not? Is there anything to be gained by making it appear Trump doesn't have any real plan? Maybe

The question here is who or what can you trust with any degree of certainty?

And yet when the next "leak" occurs or opinion disguised as fact is uttered I like so many of you may swallow the headline without any thought or CONFIRMATION as to whether it is accurate or planted.

Wendy H's avatar

I have the same questions and a few more. We shouldn't be negotiating with Iran in the first place, the largest terrorist group in the middle east if not the world. We show weakness every day this drags on and it sends the wrong message. What are we negotiating exactly? The Strait was open before the conflict began. We already slowed down Iran's ability to enrich uranium, right? Were we using Iran to send a message to Russia and China, I'm guessing that whatever is going on now isn't serving as a deterrent to Russia or China. Was it a test to see if Europe would respond to our request to assist? Can we believe that protests within Iran are real and gaining momentum?

Clarity Seeker's avatar

As Sgt Schultz might say: I know nothing!

OMG. That is hilarious!

More, I have no reason to believe that Israel is lying. It has been consistently truthful and if it makes a mistake, it corrects the record.

I’ve been watching the propaganda wars very closely since 10/7. The one thing that is consistent is that lies are amplified long before the truth can get its pants on. Heads explode because of the news, negotiators change strategy, and the process repeats itself. This pattern of recognition has forced me to give stories like this a 48 hour window to see if the truth could make its way clear of the gatekeepers. Twitter is the best place to find the truth because often, in this case, the principals (Trump & Netanyahu) would tweet the truth. So my rule is to really only watch these two and what they say. Nothing more. I don’t believe for one minute that there is “riff” between these two leaders. They are both too smart and dedicated to the mission to be petty.

As to Trump’s plan. My opinion is that it has very few but difficult objectives: (1) no nukes, (2) no ballistic missiles, and (3) no proxies. It is very flexible based upon the conditions on the ground. No one can predict his next move, but they have logic in his way of looking at negotiations, always using what ever leverage he has to wield. What I see as a recent expansion of his coalition (to include Gulf Arab nations) has, in my view, clouded the process and made it more difficult. Slowing things down. I believe that the last thing Trump wants to do is put boots on the ground and American boys I harms way. He’s the one that has to visit the parents at Dover and I believe that he takes that obligation very seriously. So we wait to see how he can thread the needle. The Scott Bessent financial warfare is taking effect, isolating and weakening Iran - we just can’t see it. It’s been about a month of Strait blockage and no oil revenues. That has to hurt. Plus, there is much we know nothing about. CIA, Mossad, etc….

Like you, I give most stories a large window so the rest of the facts have a chance to emerge. I haven't looked at MSM since.... wow. A long time ago. Pre-Covid for sure. Probably back in the Bush Obama transition. Things just weren't adding up... and even then the Dems were telling everyone things that were so *obviously* incorrect it was like, am I going nuts?? But nope, it was the beginning of the hard core gaslighting.

Brian Katz's avatar

Because of what you see from the MSM, that means that most of our fellow citizens are living in an alternate reality. That’s really fucked up for a society.

KARYN TRUITT's avatar

and the 'kids' that have grown up listening to the shyte MSM puts out... it is not hard to understand the purple hair, nose rings, man buns, and hysterics when things don't go according to their world.

I love the Great Americans section, both the content and the idea of it. The FP can do this better than any other outlet because its perspective is different than any other outlet - it has earned a reputation for high quality and originality in its themes.

Please continue this one beyond July 4. The area is every bit as important, intriguing and needed as are the themes of “Things Worth Remembering” and “Ancient Wisdom”.

"... In a second story on free expression and the United Kingdom today, we tackle the decision by the UK government to deny entry to anti-Israel American commentators Hasan Piker and Cenk Uygur. The two Hamas apologists and their defenders blamed Israel for the ban. It’s an absurd if unsurprising claim that only goes to show that censorship like this is self-defeating. Read our full take in our latest editorial. ..."

I *cannot* be the ONLY one who sees the absolute and ridiculous absurdity here. Great Britain itself has become scarily anti-Israel. To deny these 2 entry on that account speaks of a self-UNawareness that would be laughable if it weren't so damn outrageous...

Who in their right mind talks like this?

"Every one of our neighbors with a uterus became the property of the state. And nothing, nothing, is more un-Christian than that."

James Talarico Democrat Senate Candidate.

Who refers to crimials as...

"Justice Impacted Individuals?"

James Talarico Democrat Senate Candidate.

It is absolutely fine to be disgusted by Ken Paxton.

BUT how can any individual who thinks defend someone who is clearly unwell like Talarico?

Remember, remember...'s avatar

"Low T" Talarico seems apt.

KARYN TRUITT's avatar

I would be interested to hear which neighbors he thinks he's referring to. (I have many female cousins in Texas, and recently my sister moved there from Colorado. )

Keeping in mind that Talarico is of the opinion that men can get pregnant....

Pamela's avatar

Has Talarico commented on his neighbors with "M" on their birth certificates who become the property of the state via the Selective Service System on their 18th birthday?

Harold Masters's avatar

There hasn't been a draft since I was a little kid, there's no way there will be another one.

As a retired Marine, I personally think that if this country cannot find enough people who are willing to defend this country, then we deserve to fall. However, the fact that there is an active registry tells me that our government is not only able to call up a generation of young men, but it's willing to do so as well.

Pamela's avatar

Men still have to register

Lanny's avatar
7dEdited

OK?

So?

Why do we still have a selective service system then?

"Failing to register is a felony that carries severe penalties, including up to 5 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.

Lanny's avatar

Hypocrisy has become the watchword of the Democrat Party in TX.

"...what is set to be a very ugly Senate race,...."

It is now "very ugly" and "bruising" to quote a candidate's own words back to them?

It is fair to point out all the allegations against Paxton…

BUT

It is unfair to point out the actual insane statements made by Talarico?

Clarity Seeker's avatar

We live in a world of two standards as you know.

I especially love the moral realitivists who deny evil exists until they find it convenient to label their opponents evil ( among other attempts to demean and if course distract from.real issues)

Does morality matter in politics? Should it? Personally I am more interested in policy and government being more efficient which often means getting out of our personal lives and involving itself in business ( whether its a solyndra or Trump trying to pick companies). So playing hide the cigar or grabbing them by the .. doesn't cause me to take my eye off what I view as more important issues. I am note concerned about lies from politicians like schiff and Murphy and their never paying a price for it than I am with who.lies with who ( calling hundreds of congressmen and senators over the years).

But it is fun to watch a D or an R voter explain their votes or support for Paxton or Platner ( and so many others ) while they chastise voters for the other side on morality grounds( I prefer to focus on a nazi communists policy agenda)

Lanny's avatar

I generally separate morality form policy.

BUT, when a candidate's morality or lack there of directly impacts the policy decisions they wish to impose on me I have to say no.

Clarity Seeker's avatar

I hear you. But how to discern when policy is impacted by the immorality? Example: a pro abortion stance to some is immoral? I don't know the answer to when the line is crossed. Maybe its the old pornography standard. The problem then becomes subjectivity but perhaps thats OK. As you know I tend to like clear standards, especially when it becomes to the rule of law. Our current crop of leftist judges proves that they prefer only their own subjective standards. Perhaps we now live in a hyper subjective world. Maybe we always have and always will ( only power matters?).

dan brandt's avatar

Start with applying the same standards to both sides. Hopefully, in dependents will start filling that gap. They are the ones who now decide elections.

Clarity Seeker's avatar

Yes. And why truthful reporting is so important

Lanny's avatar

Clinton getting a blowjob int the Oval Office doesn't impact policy.

Talarico wanting to let boys play in girl's sports does.

BUT it is really a call each of us has to make as to how far we are willing to let politicians go and where we say... NO FARTHER!

Lanny's avatar

Of course Clinton would be run out of the Democrat Party of 2026.
