I am sorry but no, having interview with Putin doesn't make you "Pandering to Putin". Refusing to send Billions and Billions of Tax payers $$$$ to Ukraine (one of most corrupt nations on planet) at time when our deficit and national debt is spiraling out of control doesn't make you "Putin Stooge or Russian Asset.

So I am sorry but no, no more $$$ for borders abroad when our borders aren't secured. No more $$$ for problems abroad while our problems at home are not addressed. If Europe wants to fund proxy war with Russia sure by all means (they have enough manpower and money to do it). Anyone who wants to "Help Ukraine" can donate their personal money, or go and volunteer in their army, but please leave Tax $ at home.

Crazy time we live, when wanting things fixed at home make you "Russian Puppet", and sending Billions $$$ to corrupt overseas governments make you "Good American"

So once again Oliver Wiseman and Peter Savodnik have completely whiffed the story. Bari seems to be hell bent on tumbling TFP into MSNBC terrain. The inability for the writers to dissect the Carlson/Putin interview for what it was, is amazing. Lumping Carlson and "the right" into some Putin love fest is intellectually limp wristed and dilutes the true importance of the story from the other side. He sat down with him and asked questions. Just like other journalists have done with global leaders, both friend and foe, for decades. Putin gave a history lesson on Russia and Ukraine that sounded cogent and rational, even though I have no clue of it being factual. You'd think that Savodnik could have picked that apart had it been full of inaccuracies, but dodging that 35 minutes of the interview in this story sorta speaks volumes. Instead he cherry picks statements said by Carlson to put him in the worst possible light. Here's a thought Bari.......why not just have Savodnik do a video interview with Tucker? That way he can critique him directly and we get to see Tuckers response. I'm gonna guess that Carlson would factually beat Savodnik like a rented mule.

I've said many many times to shitcan these blue city coastal elite writers for more rural type intellectuals like Walter Kern. You'll get better journalism that connects with more Americans.

Claiming Biden has empathy and a great leadership record is gaslighting beyond belief.

What are the names of the US hostages in Gaza, Matt? Ask them about Biden's empathy. Ask the J6 defendants. Ask literally anybody not on your side. Ask black Chicagoans overrun with immigrants about Biden's "empathy".

In 2024, interest on our debt will be the #2 expense of our country. Our "great" economy is built on debt funneled to the rich and internationally. Our two trillion dollar deficit is now a permanent fiscal stimulus plan, and our economists know that doesn't work but they desperately need the adrenaline shot so they can lie bout Biden's disastrous economy.

It gets even funnier when you ask a guy like Matt what Biden actually did to contribute to anything positive. He will have nothing to say but more vague, moralistic character judgement about how the president who refused to stop sniffing little girls when he was repeatedly told to, is still somehow intelligent and wise and "empathetic".

Liars like Matt are why I've lost faith in this country. We're watching an elderly, criminal pervert with a long history of being stupid bumble his way through crisis after crisis with the most powerful propagandists in world history trying to make him look good, and you're telling me this is a success.

You're right. I'm ready to throw my phone, by which I mean, "it's time to stop starting my mornings by getting pissed off at lies from TFP."

Don't ever tell me Biden, or any Democrat in leadership, has anything like "empathy."

Peter savodnik. Absolutely not going to waste my time.

And Jesus Christ, an apologia to gaslight us about Joey? Give us a freaking break. BTW did you know that Hur didn’t bring up Saint beau? Joey did. So that tantrum was another fiction in joeys Swiss cheese brain accompanied by the heartbreak not a doctor Jill went through as Beaus mother (actually step mom but whatever).

I believe with this issue, wiseman has jumped the shark. Bari, pay attention and get rid of this guy. He’s hurting your brand, unless you want to be back in the good graces of a failing NYT WaPo.

"And yet, among some members of the American right, Carlson’s chat with an enemy of democracy wasn’t condemned"

Did I miss Tucker’s interview with Biden?

So one interview makes you think republicans are pandering to Putin? I can see you graduated from the CNN school of journalism

Pandering LOL

This is comical coming from the Left who have for DECADES since I was a kid told me with regard to foreign nations we should talk about our problems and that's how you get through them. Through you know, NEGOTIATIONS.

Now it's called pandering. Now we just send BILLIONS to a proxy country to fight the "enemy". Now the Left is the warhawk party.

Give me a break. This military industrial complex needs to die and die hard. I don't know if it ever will. It may lead us to the Apocalypse movies you see where they talk about that day where rhe sky was lit up or some shit.

Of course all high ranking Dems are behind Biden, just as they were all behind Hilary in 2016 and they all coalesced around Biden in 2020. It's what a party indifferent to the consent of the governed does.

I usually read the pieces before commenting, but another missive by fucking Peter Savodnik on “the Right”…no thanks. Get serious.

Did I open up a Politico or MSNBC article? This sure looks like it.

I’ve been largely out of touch with TFP for the past six weeks because I have a newborn, but this morning I was thrilled to be able to have a cup of coffee and dive in for a read while my little man slept. Unfortunately, I can’t tell the difference between Savodnik’s article and the contents of my son’s dirty diapers.

Thankfully, the other Valentine’s Day pieces were decent and Douglas Murray is sticking around for another year. I used to come here for politics, but I think I’ll stick to the culture pieces moving forward if this is the new standard.

I've been told that I'm a right-wing stooge for pointing out that even though the economy is starting to expand, people are still hurting. After Inauguration Day, I lost over $120K from just one of my retirement funds and so far, I've only recovered $60K of it. Add inflation onto that and it's harder than ever to get by on a fixed income. Young people have to work two and three jobs just to pay their rent and buy groceries and can't even contemplate buying a house or a car.

How clueless can Biden apologists be?

Which is more of a gift to Putin: Tucker Carlson’s interview or shutting down pending and future LNG (liquefied natural gas) projects and thereby curtailing American energy supplies to Europe?

Let's be real, both the Dem's and Republicans are corrupt and lack any cohesive vision on anything but single topics, getting election funds, and self interest. The problem is the Dem's are so woke that they can at least appeal to one of the absolutely insane woke groups (so many to choose from) to gather more votes. The Republicans can not even come up with a cohesive strategy to win local elections.

Our country is gripped by a senile old mumbling, drooling puppet. The other side has a guy who seems to hate everyone for something and talks way to much. It's no wonder there appears to be no hope for the country getting back to some level of normal in the next 5 years. Both are lame ducks on day one and rule by Presidential Decrees as our Legislative bodies are absolutely useless, worry about external funding, dark groups, and corrupted. So spend, spend, let thugs and criminals into the country, support dumbing down the population and stirring anger and hatred among racial groups, and you don't need external threats. They are all here and normally elected to some office at the Local, State, and Federal Level. But remember the most important thing, it's someone else's fault.

Dems try to steer the conversation to age when our apprehension is not about age so much as cognitive function. No sane person can see Biden and think all is well, and when someone does, we are immediately skeptical of anything else they have to say. It just seems narrative driven rather than logical or genuine at that point. As for Trump, he has always been a rude childish narcissist. On a more positive note, I’m really looking forward to the film coming out this month!

“In the meantime, Democrats need to let go of the idea that there’s some better alternative to Joe Biden out there. Whether he steps aside is up to him and him alone—and there’s zero evidence that he wants to. And while a last-minute change would be good news for political journalists, it would be bad news for Democrats: a chaotic spectacle that would generate hard feelings on the part of the losers and their supporters.”

This is one of the dumbest paragraphs I’ve ever read. I’m an independent. I wish we had two very different candidates. But anyone saying that the Dems can’t come up with a different better candidate is either A) mentally disabled or B) such a partisan hack that his opinions are worthless. BOTH sides could come up with a better candidate.
