Regarding the Coleman use interview about medical assisted suicide, I was quite surprised — a little appalled, actually — that both he and the interviewee so easily claimed that "blind" people might be so devastated as to want to terminate their lives. This was not only insensitive, and inaccurate, it perpetuates the worst stereotypes about those of us who are in the blind/low-vision community. I know the comments were not meant to be pejorative or denigrating, but they were unfortunate, nonetheless. One need only look to the National Federation of the blind website or any of a number of other writers to see how wrong the stereotypes are. Compassion, sensitivity, and respectfulness need to be extended to all of us… And it requires thoughtfulness to do so.

A must read post from NYC councilwoman Hon Vickie Paladins ( @VickieforNYC on X ) explaining exactly what Mamdani is up to - seizing properties

“Let's understand a few things about what's actually about to happen here if Zohran gets his way -- which he almost certainly will, unless courts intervene.

First and foremost, Cea Weaver and DSA 'organizers' will be unleashed with the full institutional and legal support of the city government to ramp up tenant complaints in targeted buildings. No complaint will be too small. No building will be too small. Everything will be treated as catastrophic. Full-scale demagoguery will ensue, complete with protests, rent strikes, street theater, and harassment of property owners.

Accordingly, the city buildings department will be weaponized to begin writing as many violations as possible in order to bolster the city's effort to justify a seizure. It won't matter how small or large the violations are, the total number will be breathlessly cited as evidence of mismanagement. It will be impossible for landlords to clear these violations in good faith.

The combination of a weaponized buildings department writing hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines, rent strikes, and constant threats and harassment against landlords by militant activists will make the situation untenable for any property owner to realistically fight back, and the city will seize the property. The landlord will be lucky to walk away without prison or being beaten to death in the street by an angry mob (as Zohran's buddy Hasan Piker referred to landlords -- 'let the streets run red with their capitalist blood').

But that's only the first half of the plan, and everyone needs to pay very close attention to the big picture here, because it's hugely important and has national implications.

The properties will then be turned over to nonprofits. This is no small detail. This is in fact the whole point.

The idea here is to build up Zohran's DSA-connected nonprofits with a multbillion-dollar portfolio of hard assets -- New York City real estate. This portfolio could theoretically reach into the hundreds of billions or even the trillions, depending on how aggressive they get.

Now these highly political nonprofits would become the new land barons of New York, complete with all the political clout, leverage, and reach that goes along with it. It would be a true nightmare scenario.

As it stands now, the nonprofits depend mostly on the largesse of grants, donations, and other third-party resources to stay afloat. They are lavishly funded of course, and many do hold significant assets, but it would all pale in comparison to simply handing them the keys to a New York City real estate empire, courtesy of Zohran Mamdani and the DSA.

The resources at their disposal would be immense. The organizing potential that goes along with those resources will have national implications. Every DSA candidate in every town and city in the country would be trained, funded, and staffed by organizers with ties to the NYC nonprofit empire backed by a trillion dollars in free real estate. And they would be shameless in leveraging those resources for pure political power.

That's the game plan here. That's the whole ball of wax.”

Zohran isn't interested in making housing better for anyone. If he was, we'd be talking seriously about solving the NYCHA disaster.

Hell, if he was even remotely sincere about seizing these properties from 'bad landlords' for the 'public good' he'd be focused on turning them over to the city itself, as misguided as that would be.

No, this is about nothing more than consolidating political power for the DSA. Just like everything else these people do. Giving the DSA a massive war chest backed by seized real estate.

Once you understand that they have no interest in fixing anything other than elections, it all makes a lot more sense.

“Trump is his own worst enemy”

Novel approach!

1200 folks were thrown in prison for protesting what appears to be a pretty hinky election. Were they all violent? Did they all hurt someone? Seems unlikely. How’d they get tried and convicted so quickly?

Political prisoners. $3 million isn’t much in damages for something like that, imo. Of course there are outliers who shouldn’t get anything. The judges should be hanged.

From a distant, non-contiguous state, I am vaguely aware that victorious Texas senatorial candidate Ken Paxton is a "scandal-ridden state attorney general" in the sense that charges have been brought against him. However, I am not aware that he has been convicted of anything. Thus, in the current political world where charges are pressed just so party activists can label their opponents "scandal ridden" and make their opponents spend time and money defending themselves, whether the charges are ever proved or not, I say the hell with it. Also, "compared to what?"

Democrats are infantile. The VP of the United States invites you to the White House to discuss issues concerning the country and every Democrat declines? Are they afraid they will be taken to task because the fraud in their states is off the charts? Democrats act like they are 12 yrs old and in middle school. (Where I live, a group of 12 yr old girls decided to accept invitations to another girls party and then the morning of the party all called to cancel within 5 minute increments. Because their base decided the birthday girl wasn't "cool" anymore. People do not suddenly become garbage human beings at 30.)

Not speaking to the VP of the US on matters important to the average person in this country doesn't make you seem intelligent it makes you appear ridiculous and pathetic. Democrats are not serious people. They need to be kept as far away from power as possible.

They are serious. About acquiring power and never relinquishing it. And that means abusing it. Fraud helps grow their ranks and thus their power. Hence, no desire to reign it in or mitigate it. The American people right now seem very unserious and unconcerned about anything other than the immediate items of the moment ( instant gratification and dopamine hits). Hence easy to emotionally manipulate. Low voters turnout is a serious issue . Who is even paying attention?

EKB ✡️ 🕎 🇺🇸's avatar

Playing infantile games is not the act of a serious adult. They do not care about the average tax payor and the fraud that is harming this country. Oh they want power. Sure. But I do think more people are paying attention than you think. My understanding is that voter turnout yesterday for primaries was higher than normal.

Perhaps its more about people thinking that their vote doesn't matter so they stay home. it is the job of the political party to make people understand that they need to vote. Adults in the room who worry about paying bills really have no patience for stupid beltway games. They aren't waiting for the next dopamine fix, they are trying to figure out how to keep the lights on.

COMPARED TO WHAT?

Not a Paxton fan.

BUT as in all of life you have to ask… compared to what?

If Texans are insane enough to vote for Talarico then like NY, CA, and virtually every Blue State they will get what they deserve.

DEAR PRESIDENT TRUMP.

I have been one of your staunchest supporters for 2 plus years.

I didn’t vote for you in 2016.

I reluctantly voted for you in 2020.

I enthusiastically voted for you in 2024.

BUT please for the love of God finish what you started.

It is difficult to understand why you took your boot off the neck of the Iranian Regime.

You have given the Iranians time to regroup and emboldened those who hate America in general and you specifically.

It is unclear whether or not you can restart the war.

If you can’t, admit that you made a mistake and bring it to a swift end.

If you can, swiftly resume operations and don’t stop until the regime surrenders unconditionally.

Regardless, anything less than the complete destruction, verification, and continual monitoring of the Iranian nuclear program will destroy your legacy and more importantly endanger our nation and our allies.

Man you came out firing early this morning. Right on point. I just read the morning post by Erick Erickson. Not sure if you ever hear him on the radio but you would love him. Todays email was about trump acknowledging the tariffs are detrimental and asking the president to do the right thing and remove/ease them. My comment was essentially it is time for some humility. Does the president have the capacity to be humble. Perhaps that same question applies to all the matters you have raised this morning. He needs to give his ego a rest and try to exercise both discipline and true leadership and focus on only those issues of most importance to the country rather than his more personal distractions. A pipedream no?

A pipedream yes.

“HE KEPT US OUT OF WAR”

In 1916 Woodrow Wilson a Democrat and arguably the most Progressive President in American history campaigned on the slogan…

“He Kept Us Out of War.”

In 1917 the American people fought bravely “to make the world safe for democracy.”

In 2024 President Trump campaigned on the slogan…

"I'm not going to start wars, I'm going to stop wars."

Only someone who is totally naïve would believe that President Trump would never ever under any circumstances go to war.

Only someone who is blinded by his hatred for President Trump would insist that the President was lying.

Only a fool would demand that President Trump not act in the face of an imminent threat by madmen frantically seeking nukes.

In 1917 the American people fought bravely… “to make the world safe for democracy.”

In 2026 it remains to be seen whether the American people are willing to fight bravely “to make the world safe” from messianic madmen.
