What MAGA really thinks of the war. Iranian pop star Googoosh on the possibility of freedom. The Texas conservatives who said no to prayer in schools. And more in today's Front Page.
Funny the same state that tries to make gasoline pure enough for human consumption is pumping forever chemicals into fruits and vegetables. And speaking of the mental state warden Newsome doesn’t seem to understand when your gasoline tax is twice as high as the rest of the US, you require unique seasonal blends and you import tha vast majority of your oil, the cost is about $2 more per gallon than the rest of civilization or in his words it’s Trumps fault. And then he wonders why Democrats are barely more popular than IRAN and less favorable than ICE.
This is a tough situation for us all. Gas prices are up, which I am struggling with because I drive my car once or twice a month. Sometimes, when winter comes, I actually take my car battery out, put it inside and when Spring comes, I put it back in and it starts right up!
Unfortunately, I live in one of those woke, socialists, un-American blue cities with major infratructure, high education/income and public transportation.
Now, in my neighborhood? That's different. Can I walk to Trader Joe's and Lidl for groceries? Sure.
Can I walk to CVS, Cava, Five Guys, Chipotle, Raising Cane's, Walgreens, Panda Express, Chopt, Shake Shack, Noodles&Co, etc.? Absolutely.
But it's not all it's cracked up to be, folks.
Do I have to sometimes take an extra 10 minutes walk to get to my opthamologist, dentist, and primary care physician? Sure, but that's a 40 min walk- round trip.
Sounds good, huh? Not so fast, my friends!
What you don't understand is that I am constantly dodging gunfire, muggings and attempted rapes by Mexicans.
Now...will MAGAs be hurt as a result of all this Iran, gas, etc. drama? Sure. But unfortunately, humans will be too.
$11 billion relative to the $69 trillion value of the US equity market works out to 0.016%. What would eliminating the threat of Iran to the world be worth?
I am very worried. This could mean the end of civilization. Or being optimistic , a slew of applications for very qualified barista/scolders. Especially now that Howie Schultz is escaping from Seattle
The Indonesian province of Aceh began to use sharia law in its courts 25 years ago. Punishments have included whipping for those caught having gay sex. I guess gays should be glad they're not being tossed off roofs.
It should also be noted that Islam is a relative latecomer to Indonesia, and syncretic forms of Islam still predominate. That may have something to do with Indonesia's tolerance compared to much of the Muslim world.
I grew up in the South during the 50s-60s. Good and decent Southerners would rarely speak out about the Klan, out of fear. Good and decent Muslims will rarely speak out against Islam because of the same.
they can't possibly be more fearful than the American jews who their radical counterparts are openly threatening
the moderate and less religious muslims are the ones who must find the courage to stand with jews and christians against the onslaught of jihadi rhetoric and violence or we have to assume that they actually subscribe to the islam ideology but allow the more aggressive muslims to do the work of aggressive conquest.
No. I am not ignorant. Indonesia is not tolerant of other religions. Israel, the only democratic tolerant state in Mid East is not allow to participate in IOC games in Indonesia. Wishful thinking does not make something true.
I did not say you were ignorant--just your reply. The statement, "do your research" is profoundly ignorant.
Israel isn't permitted on the campus of Columbia University. That's your example?
Indonesia is often criticized by Western observers for being insufficiently liberal, but that ignores the scale and complexity of the country. With more than 270 million people, hundreds of ethnic groups, and multiple major religions, Indonesia has built its national identity around Pancasila, a framework that affirms belief in God while deliberately protecting religious pluralism.
A national religion is stupid. Yet, it is something many social conservatives advocate for, in the U.S., even today.
Its national motto—Bhinneka Tunggal Ika—is a governing principle that has allowed Muslims, Christians, Hindus, and Buddhists to coexist inside a single democratic state. That alone makes Indonesia unusual in the modern world, and particularly within the Muslim-majority world.
Indonesia is not perfect, but it handles religious differences better than many parts of the West, including New York City.
Yes, Indonesia has blasphemy laws and socially conservative norms. Most social conservatives in the United States agitate for their own version of criminalized blasphemy. Liberals do it all the time with their own secular flavor of blasphemy.
But critics often overlook that Indonesia is a functioning democracy where power changes hands peacefully, where non-Muslim regions like Bali thrive within the national framework, and where the government has repeatedly resisted pressure to transform the country into an Islamic state—despite being the largest Muslim-majority nation on earth. In comparative terms, Indonesia’s achievement is not that it perfectly mirrors Western liberalism; it is that a vast, religious, and culturally fragmented society has managed to remain democratic, pluralistic, and largely stable. That balance deserves more credit than it gets.
Indonesia is nothing like the Muslim states in the Middle East. Muslims and the Muslim world are backward, in many ways. In that regard they are almost precisely where the Christian world was 500 years ago. Progress is being made. Indonesia is in the vanguard of that progress.
Now if we could just get Americans to stop saying such profoundly stupid things online, like: "Do your research," which are, in many instances, barely disguised bigotry.
The GOP has an anti-Muslim "problem"? You mean that every normal person who loves Western civilization has an instinctual negative reaction to the most retrograde and intolerant major religion on Earth, which is still in its dark Middle Ages?
Classes at Columbia may be cancelled, but be sure the tuition bills won't be

“ one thing is certain: The ceremony will showcase Hollywood culture at its most ostentatious”
You misspelled obnoxious.
The story about the Ukrainian actress was r totally a repetition of what we know but reassembled to show the diversity of this dead evil human.
So we now have the cartels to continue his basic work.
The only interesting thing today is what has been known but now may convince people to buy only organic food.
Why doesn’t TFP give a full explanation of how organic food products are grown and developed.
That would be much more useful.
I would like to see the results of the study that measures forever chems in foods labeled as organic. Betcha it's the same
The runoff from homeless encampments is organic.
400 million barrels? Sounds like a lot.

ok take a deep breath
Ok....enjoy your gas prices ;) Lol!!
read a little more about it. The US produces plenty of oil. They'll come down soon enough. Try not to panic because a week has gone by
Panic? Lol. I drive once or twice a month. I'm just enjoying Season 2. :) Have fun!
"taps the sign" Please don't feed the trolls.
Closes are cancelled?
Sounds like you never had to worry about that.
$11 billion relative to the $69 trillion value of the US equity market works out to 0.016%. What would eliminating the threat of Iran to the world be worth?
One could open a "Learing Center" in Minnesota for that kind of money.
This joke will never get old with me.
“The Pentagon has told Congress that the first week of the Iran War cost more than $11.3 billion.“ Gov. Walz may be able to fund a majority of that…
ABF. ALWAYS BE FEARMONGERING. Apologies to Nellies boy David Mamet ( King David of Screenplay Writers to many of us)
Columbia grad students going on strike. Please do, the country needs ditch diggers.
I am very worried. This could mean the end of civilization. Or being optimistic , a slew of applications for very qualified barista/scolders. Especially now that Howie Schultz is escaping from Seattle
Thank you, Judge Smails.
Cut off the student loans and all Federal funding. If that can happen to the for-profit cert mill, it can happen to Columbia.
Oh no! Closes at Columbia cancelled! Whatever will we do?
Protest, of course.
I wish people would take a look at Indonesia which has the largest Muslim population in the world. They appear to be quite tolerant.

Do some research instead of dreaming.
That's an asinine response.
Indonesia is not a religious tolerant country
What an ignorant reply.
Exhorting people to "do some research" may be the stupidest thing that humans can say to each other.
That's setting aside the fact that even a modicum of research would show that you're completely wrong about Indonesia.
No. I am not ignorant. Indonesia is not tolerant of other religions. Israel, the only democratic tolerant state in Mid East is not allow to participate in IOC games in Indonesia. Wishful thinking does not make something true.
