What are the social phenomena within the last ten years that seem to be operating like fads?

Can i say that? Not brilliant, not a scholar on anything earth shattering...(other than cat behavior). Just a pretty run of the mill, raised in a household of depression grown parents ( but I stop short of washing tin foil),saved and worked hard, believe in basic human rights, love the constitution, think we live in an amazing country. Also love some 'fringe' people that my kind would pray for and ask about.
